Nursery Planning

As a first time mom, planning our nursery was equal parts exciting and overwhelming. I poured myself into every little decorating decision because it was one of the things I could control and look forward to while being pregnant during a global pandemic. ANWAYS, I started with rugs. The idea for this space would be neutral yet colorful, I know, oxymoronic right? I wanted the room to feel calm yet playful. These rug options met all my criteria. I opted for option 1, and so far, I am very pleased with my choice. I had a mom friend of mine send me a message that she has that same rug in a different color-way and claims that it is very durable, which I think is a must-have quality when picking a rug for a kids room (especially if you want a light color like I did).

Rugs:
Next, I buried myself in rocking chair research. Both my mom and mother-in-law claimed to not have used rockers but I knew I wanted one for the space. I sourced these top 6 stylish chairs and shared them in my stories on instagram, this is when I learned how many smart mommy followers I have. I got SO much advice about how to choose a chair, and although these were great LOOKING chairs, they would not be the best option for mom or babes. Why? Moms across the board said my rocker would need a high back and high padded arms, option 5 had both BUT I got a message from someone saying I really needed a glider as opposed to a rocker, not only to save my wood floors from potential damage but also so I would not rock over my sweet blind dogs paws. Glider it was, so the research continued.

Rocking Chairs:
While looking for a chair, it was also brought to my attention I would need a place to put my feet up, so I sourced these ottomans with the above rockers in mind.

Ottomans/ Stools:
Picking out a crib opened an entire new set of puzzle pieces. Convertible crib? Mini Crib? Co-sleeper? Cardboard box? I liked all of these options for their style, price point and functionality.

Cribs:
It was also brought to my attention when sourcing a chair, that I would need a good side table for all my mommy needs while nursing, aka a huge cup of coffee. These are my top 4 choices, and I actually have yet to decide. This is one of the last things I need to complete the nursery. I have one I am leaning towards, but what do you think is the best option?

Side Tables:
Finally, that sneak peek I promised! Here's the first look at one completed wall of our nursery. My brother-in-law made those gallery ledge book shelves for us, he followed At Home with Ashley's tutorial (linked here) We partnered with Kelly Moore Paints for this project, and I will share the exact color choices with your soon, but more on that later! Also, you can see which glider I chose after all your suggestions about the rockers vs gliders. So far, I am VERY pleased with my choice.
